02/26/2007 Entry: "CNS Clock II data"

I recently acquired a CNS Clock II GPS with the high-performance PPS output that corrects the GPS sawtooth in hardware. Before implementing it, I thought I would measure the delay of its three PPS outputs, and also measure the added delay when running the PPS through a TADD-3 distribution board.

The front panel 1/100 PPS output seems to fire earliest. The rear panel 1/100 PPS output is about 1.4 nanoseconds slow, and the rear panel 1 PPS output is about 2.2 nanoseconds slow.

When routing the rear 1/100 PPS output to a TADD-1 through about 12 inches of cable, the TADD outputs are 26 to 27 nanoseconds slow compared to the front panel 1/100 PPS output.
