About the House

This beautiful home is about 5 years old and has 100 feet of sand beach, a large, upper deck with wide, open vista, and views of the island ferry, fishing, and sailboats on Lake Michigan. It has 4 bedrooms, comfortably sleeping 8 adults. The upper loft holds spacious sleeping quarters with queen bed, full and private en suite bath, and views of Lake Michigan. On the main floor, 2 bedrooms each have one combination twin/queen bunkbed, seating, and spacious closets, as does the private bedroom with queen bed in the lower terrace level. There is a full bath on the main floor, and a roomy half bath on the lower terrace level. All baths have linen cabinets and storage.

The main level accommodates a large entry hall with bench and guest closet, sitting and dining areas, and access to the deck overlooking Lake Michigan. The lower terrace level allows spacious living with sitting, dining, and breakfast/wet bar areas in addition to the 4th bedroom with full daylight window. The main level galley kitchen is fully equipped, including a walk-in pantry, and the house includes the usual appliances (outdoor grill, refrigerator, cooktop, built-in oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, mixer, can opener, dust buster, vacuum, smoke alarms, and landline phone with wireless extensions on main level, upper loft, and lower 4th bedroom) and amenities (bed/bath/table linens, cookware and dishware, satellite TV access, flat panel TV, large screen TV, DVD player, adjustable paddle fans, pendant and pot lighting with dimmers, room by room thermostats including bathrooms, clock/radio/CD players, clothes washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, and roomy laundry room).

A small library collection in the center hall features island, lake, and general reading. A small assortment of family friendly games is collected in the lower terrace level. This lake house invites a comfortable, casual appeal, with current, coastal decor, original and commercial art, island photos, and maps, all enhanced in the space with warm and light colors of earth, water, and sky. In addition to walks along the beach, a tree-lined walking route used by vacationers and residents runs adjacent to the property on the unpaved road serving area cottages. Morning sunrises give way to a sunny and tree-shaded lawn in the afternoon and summer light well after 9:30PM in the high season.

Moon Bounce Bay is on the east side of Beaver Island, about 8 miles south of town, in the Wicklow Beach area. (Just where is Beaver Island, anyway?) To the south lies the historic Beaver Island Lighthouse (free and open to the public) and to the north on East Side Drive lies Little Sand Bay Nature Preserve, just two of the many Beaver Island offerings.
