Moonbounce Bay on Beaver Island

Our four bedroom home on Beaver Island, Michigan, which we call Moonbounce Bay, is available for weekly rental.

Rental activity has been high this spring, and at present we do not have any vacancies in June, July, or August. The only weeks currently available in 2012 are Sep. 15-22 and Sep. 22-29.

If you would like to request a reservation, please email jra@febo.com indicating your preferred week(s) and providing contact information. We will respond as quickly as we are able. We are not yet taking reservations for the 2013 season; we plan to do so starting on January 2, 2013.

Our policy is generally to accept qualified reservations on a first-come, first-served basis, but we reserve the right to make exceptions. In particular, we may give preference to groups requesting multi-week stays.

The rental rate for June-September 2012 is $1175/week, linens included. All rentals are for full weeks from Saturday PM to Saturday AM. Maximum party size is 8. Well-behaved pets will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to a small cleaning fee. Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of 50% deposit. Moonbounce Bay is a non-smoking property.

About the House

This beautiful home is about 7 years old and has 100 feet of sand beach, a large, upper deck with wide, open vista, and views of the island ferry, fishing, and sailboats on Lake Michigan. It has 4 bedrooms, comfortably sleeping 8 adults. The upper loft holds spacious sleeping quarters with queen bed, full and private en suite bath, and views of Lake Michigan. On the main floor, 2 bedrooms each have one combination twin/queen bunkbed, seating, and spacious closets, as does the private bedroom with queen bed in the lower terrace level. There is a full bath on the main floor, and a roomy half bath on the lower level. All baths have linen cabinets and storage.

The main level has a large entry hall with bench and guest closet, sitting and dining areas, access to the deck overlooking Lake Michigan, and a flat panel satellite TV and DVD player. The lower level allows spacious living with sitting, dining, and breakfast/wet bar areas in addition to the 4th bedroom with full daylight window. The lower level also has a satellite TV and DVD player.

The galley kitchen is fully equipped, including a walk-in pantry, with refrigerator, cooktop, built-in oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, mixer, can opener, cookware, and dishware.

The house also has smoke alarms, landline phone with wireless extensions, bed/bath/table linens, adjustable paddle fans, pendant and pot lighting with dimmers, room by room thermostats including bathrooms, and clock/radio/CD players. A roomy laundry room provides a clothes washer and dryer as well as iron and ironing board. A small library collection in the center hall features island, lake, and general reading. An assortment of family-friendly games are available in the lower level.

This lake house invites a comfortable, casual appeal, with current, coastal decor, original and commercial art, island photos, and maps, all enhanced in the space with warm and light colors of earth, water, and sky. In addition to walks along the beach, a tree-lined walking route used by vacationers and residents runs adjacent to the property on the unpaved road serving area cottages. Morning sunrises give way to a sunny and tree-shaded lawn in the afternoon and summer light well after 9:30PM in the high season.

Moon Bounce Bay is on the east side of Beaver Island, about 8 miles south of town, in the Wicklow Beach area. To the south lies the historic Beaver Island Lighthouse (free and open to the public) and to the north on East Side Drive lies Little Sand Bay Nature Preserve, just two of the many Beaver Island offerings.

(Just where is Beaver Island, anyway?)
