Subject: Major announcement regarding the Red Cross made Saturday at the
Dayton Hamvention
During the morning's ARES forum, held at the Dayton Hamvention, Dennis
Dura, K2DCD, ARRL Emergency Communications and Preparedness Manager
started the forum with a major announcement. The National Red Cross
faxed a statement to the ARRL that the company Mybackgrouncheck.com will
remove the language from the legal statement and cease asking for
waivers to collect credit and mode of living data for the Red Cross
background check. This will allow the ARRL and the Red Cross to continue
work on a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding between the two
organizations.
The language in the background check release had been a major stumbling
block in continuing talks between the ARRL and the National Red Cross.
An official statement will be made by the league very soon.

ARRL Section Emergency Coordinator - Ohio
