Subject: Request for volunteers: BikeMS - August 27-28, 2011
If you have expressed interest previously, but you're not listed below,
please reply to this e-mail and/or contact me via phone to CONFIRM your
interest.
The ride is similar to the last 2 years, in that it has been "scaled
back"...fewer support vehicles, and a more "compact" route.
Saturday's ride will be within Warren and Clermont Counties and Sunday's
ride will be within Warren and Clinton Counties
We believe we'll need to fill these assignments:
START/FINISH: 2 volunteers minimum each day
Checkpoints: 4 Saturday, 5 Sunday (2 volunteers at lunch please)
Sags: 5 each day
Sit Team: 2 each day
Sweep vehicle: 1 each day
This is about 15-16 volunteers at any given time...and does not include
"first aid team" and "Goldwing Road Riders" who are licensed, and whose
information will be included on the event roster.
***as of 8/5/2011 we are 4 short for Saturday, 7 short for Sunday.***
With the ride shifting from a 2-day ride to 2 1-day rides, "1-day"
volunteers can be better utilized now. If you're available for one day,
please indicate which.
No organized plans exist for hotel lodging at this time.
Event roster: K8FR, KB0SLY, KC8HQT, N8JMV, KD8ILV, KA0AZS/N8UCL, N8PEE,
KD8JYE, WB8TDA/KA8DME (Sat.), NE8X (Sat.), KD8HPK.
And a note on sags...they want the drivers to sign forms consenting to
background checks, BMV checks, and "investigative consumer reports". I
have indicated that we as a team won't be doing this, and will be glad
to return to the shotgun seats, if that requirement persists.

Previous "web" announcement:
Where: Start/Finish @ YMCA Camp Kern
When: Saturday, 27 and Sunday 28 August 2011
How long: All day Saturday and Sunday
What is it: Charity Ride to support MS
Bike MS: Venture the Valley 2011 is a fully supported, two-day bicycle
ride through some of the most scenic countryside and
quaint small towns in Southwest Ohio. The figure-eight route will start,
finish and overnight at Camp Kern in Oregonia, Ohio. Riders will have
the option to choose from a 25-mile, 50-mile or 75-mile route.
Volunteers are needed at the start/finish, fixed checkpoints, and to
ride in designated support vehicles throughout the weekend. There are a
lot of logistical challenges on an all-day multi-county bike ride, so
please lend your time and talents to this cause!
Required equipment for this includes a 25 or 50-watt VHF mobile and
appropriate antenna.
