[time-nuts] Rapco 1804M - serial problems?

Hi Paul thanks for that reassuring comment. I and an amateur software team
have very nearly gone bald trying to rationalise a perfect response on a
real internal PCI serial card and a USBconveter. We found with thee cheaper
converters it is vital to visit the makers site and get the very latest
driver.......eeven this does not always help. I will confirm that the FTDI
driver ran like clockwork and gave no trouble on converters using their
chip.

have seen many times where USB/serial converters do not behave properly. I
would bet that choosing a different USB/serial dongle would fix the problem.
Generally speaking it seems the FTDI based units are the most dependable,
but implementations vary.

Port settings incorrect (but not on two programs, surely).  Answers on a
