Thanks for that info, Poul-Henning.  If I hadn't already bought several 
of the standard supplies, the wide-range ones sound like the perfect 
option.  I didn't dig deeply enough when I ordered the systems (and 
didn't discover the problem until now because they seemed fine on my 
13.8V supply; it just took the extra battery voltage to put them over 
the edge).
