Subject: Ohio Senate Bill 93 supporting Amateur Radio Introduced to the Ohio Senate
We have just been notified that Ohio Senate Bill 93, a Bill that enacts
sections 303.214, 519.214, 713.082, and 5502.031 of the Revised Code to
codify federal restrictions on local zoning of amateur station antenna
structures, thereby preserving amateur radio service communications as
a Homeland Security resource, has been introduced to the Ohio Senate.
The Bill has been introduced by Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Ohio District
31). Last year Senator Schaffer introduced Senate Bill 218, which was
written to achieve the same goal for Amateur Radio in Ohio. The new
bill is currently co-sponsored by Senators Edna Brown (D-Ohio District
11), Bill Seitz (R- Ohio District 8), Jimmy Stewart (R- Ohio District
20), and Gayle Manning (R-Ohio District 13).
The bill can be found at the following URL:

At this time, I would like for all Ohio Hams to contact your State
Senator to support this Bill in its many states of progression. At this
time, we are not sure which Committee this Bill will be assigned. As
always, I will keep you informed.
My thanks to State Government Liaison Nick Pittner, K8NAP for his hard
work in working with Senator Schaffer’s office to have this new Bill
introduced.
