Spring 2012 Greene County License Courses
The Greene County Amateur Radio License Courses, jointly sponsored by the
three Greene County amateur radio clubs (Bellbrook, Fairborn and Xenia) and
Greene County ARES, will be held concurrently on Sunday evenings from 7:00
to 9:00 PM beginning February 12 and continuing through April 15 (there will
be no classes on Easter Sunday 8 April). An exam session is scheduled for
Sunday, April 22, at 6:00 PM.
The Technician Class Course will be held in the Training Center at the
Bellbrook Amateur Radio Club Clubhouse, Room 1 Lower Level, Sugarcreek
Elementary School, 51 South East Street in Bellbrook.
The General Class Course and the Test Session will be held in the Training
Room at Beavercreek Township Fire Station 61 located at 1298 Dayton-Xenia
Road just west of Orchard Lane.
The Extra Class Course will be held in the Training Room at Fairborn Fire
Station 2 located at 2200 Commerce Center Blvd just south of Dayton-Yellow
Springs Rd (just east of I-675).
Detailed directions to the respective sites will be provided upon request.
There is no charge for the courses or the test session but all students are
encouraged to have a copy of the respective ARRL License Manual. Current
editions of each license manual will be available the first two weeks of the
courses at a discounted price of $26 including sales tax. Please advise
Fred Stone (W8LLY at ARRL.net <mailto:W9LLY at ARRL.net> ) ASAP if you want a
book. Books also may be ordered directly from R&L Electronics and the ARRL
Bookstore. The current edition of the ARRL License Manual may be available
at local book stores and Amazon, etc. (be sure it's for exams given in 2012
or later).
Please pass this information along to any prospective hams you know. No
experience is required for the entry level (Technician Class) amateur radio
license & there is no age limit for obtaining an amateur radio license.
Also, all current Technician Class hams are encouraged to seriously consider
upgrading to General Class. The Greene County General Class course provides
an ideal opportunity.
