Hi Had:

I find the AMRAD active whip works very well for WWVB, LORAN-C and all 
the WWV stations.  I use one of the outputs to feed a multicoupler for 
HF and the other output for < 2 Mhz signals.  It was designed for use at 
136 kHz and needs some modification for WWVB.  See:

But I think it's a very poor antenna for HF DX work.
