[time-nuts] eBay saga

eBay is counting on people like you (and me). This behavior (which I
share, unfortunately) leads to lots of great feedback and more sales
because buyers are more confident and more items are bid on. If eBay
were to implement a blind feedback system, there would be more negative
feedback overall (I know I would have sent more negative feedback
myself) and people would be more cautious and sales would go down,
obviously unacceptable.
I just bought an EIP counter from someone in Florida (same sate where I
live). I paid $40 for ground shipping, which would have left about $25
for packing. The packing was a disgrace (recycled thin wall box with a
few loose bits and pieces of styrofoam) and I was very lucky that UPS
did not mess it up. The box had just about disintegrated when I got it
but amazingly, the counter had no mechanical damage. Since the item was
not damaged and otherwise met the description, I left positive feedback,
but I sent an email to the seller to let them know what I thought about
the packing.
