Well, it you are trying to use it as a Windows device, that's something
else.

I don't think it can hurt to try HPGL. I am not sure what language that
plotter used, but I am sure it was not HPGL, it used a simple set of ASCII
commands. It may have actually supported more than one language, but I doubt
it. It was a long time ago :-) A manual might help.
 
I doubt that the 7550 would use the same commands, it is an inkjet printer.
If it has its own driver, that's probably because it does not support HPGL
or any other type of standard language.
