Thanks for the rapid response.  I will have to take a picture to get it
to you but it is 
6 5/8" X 5 3/8" and thick enough to accommodate a type "c" cell.

Also, just before I read your response, I received another indicating
Batteries
Plus will build an exact replacement for about $80.00.  Not bad
considering HP
wanted my right arm and subservience of my first grandchild for life!

Thanks for your courtesy and would appreciate hearing about your
alternatives.
