This is a typical design error where the designer should have spent a 
longer time at the repair-shop prior to getting onto the design desk in 
order to be experienced enough. I have repaired alot of equipment where 
people have not understood how unsupported weight may wear and tear over 
the years. People that think solder is some form of magic super-glue.

For a few cases vibration isolation *might* be on their mind, but the 
solution got wrong never the less.
