Hi time folks,
I recently got a used Navman TU60 Jupiter-T GPS module from the far east.
From the label I gather it is a Lucent OEM version (TU60-D001-001). Is
anyone else working with this model?
On startup it emits "ff 81 9c 04 01 00 00 00 64 79 00 00 00 00" at 9600
bps, and I have been able to talk to it using Motorola WinOncore12, which
reports under "Receiver ID":
COPYRIGHT 1995-2004 NAVMAN LTD.
SFTW P/N # 0000
SOFTWARE VER # 93
SOFTWARE REV # 07
SOFTWARE DATE 01/16/2004
MODEL # R01
HDWR P/N # TU60-D125
SERIAL # 703127719
MANUFACTUR DATE 701//52030
OPTIONS LIST 5843
What I cannot do is set the initial position. The setup command from
WinOncore doesn't seem to be accepted. It seems stuck at:
Date: 8/10/2008 Time:7:24:31 GPS Lat: N 28 39.1906 Lon: E 121 14.7115
(Huangyan, south of Hangzhou CH)
...so needless to say it isn't seeing any satellites from Northern CA.
Actually I can change the latitude to near mine (37 N) but cannot change
the longitude from E to W. Horrible thought, is it possible the firmware
has been locked to a specific geographic region ?
I have read the Motorola Binary format is not fully supported on this unit.
I tried the tool intended for Jupiter models, WinLabMon v1.18 and it runs,
but it will not access the serial port on my WinXP box. I presume it is a
problem with protected access mode to serial port HW, I gather it was
designed for Win95. Any suggestions or pointers appreciated!
thanks,
John Beale
