[time-nuts] Basic HP 5334A question

The ones to really look out for are the sellers that have starting
prices on 99% of their stuff way above what the normal/average selling
price is, and even have a 7 day return, then they have something like
a 5370B for $50, and it says "untested".

The one I liked was last summer. It was a DMM and the description was
something like "unable to test", the pictures showed it sitting on a
bench next to a Fluke calibrator.

on the flip side there are sellers that either really do not know, or
are selling for someone else, and if the person
doing the description and or setting the price is not getting a
percentage, I've done pretty well. But then if
the seller does not offer a return policy that I like, I assume what I
am getting is in need of repair and is a
gamble.

I've had more issues with poor packing then I have had with stuff that
was suppose to be good but turned out to be dead.

If they are playing dumb on this one, but knowedgeable about other tech stuff you may have a problem. Personally I find a faulty item described faulty does much better on ebay than one "not known" or not shown switched on. A asle hate the people who put "tested and working" on high start price items that are obviously not from the photo (i.e. matched parts missing, obvious damage) or that from the description they haven't got a clue what it is. OK if you are starting at $10, not at $1000.
