Hi All,
Just a few words on the different types of FE5680.
The types requiring 5v on one of the pins only have a simple L C filter
to "sine" up the square wave and are only suitable for locking digital
devices. The variants with the SMA or single 15v supply have a multipole
band pass filter for 10 Mhz and produce a far cleaner output suitable
for locking LO's for radios.
Looking at the output of the +5v types on an oscilloscope you will quite
clearly see that the sine wave is not quite right. Pluggin them into a
spectrum analyzer will show harmonics stretching out 100Mhz+ from the
fundamental.
If your intent is to use one of these as a basis for locking LO's for
radio work make sure you use a clean one :)
regards
Tim
