No, Italian law doesn't require DOB or place of birth registering for purchases, I suspect his email has been hi-jacked by someone who's attempting to get into the identity theft business.

Here in Italy is requiring by law.. that for all customers that have bought something from us, I need to have also birthplace and birthday.
