I use TimeLab with "unsupported" instruments all the time. For the Pendulum CNT-9x counters I use a short script to grab measurements using SCPI commands like fetch? over GPIB, writing the data to a file, flushing often. With the data nicely streaming to a file, I then use TimeLab "Acquire from live ASCII file" to process the data. /tvb
