I'm thinking of doing a breakout board similar to this one
http://bit.ly/1buC4ZD for the subject Maxim chip.

"Why?" you may ask. Unlike many other RTC chips, this one supports a 1 PPS
drive. The specs are here http://bit.ly/1eE5vh1 on the Maxim site. There
seems to be considerable interest in driving RTC's with 1 PPS for use with
an Arduino, MSP430, PI, etc. leveraging what many already have - a GPSDO 1
PPS signal. There is the TAPR T2-Mini for cases where a 1 PPS is not
available.

So I'm wondering if anything else like it already exists, and this is a
waste of time :-)
