Hello Fred, I'll replace the battery.
Mine desn't become too hot, the weather is cold here
but the instrument is not much hotter than the ambient.
Maybe there is something wrong in yours (capacitors?).
It's a shame that there isn't the scan of the service manual around.
For me there would be no problem paying a service like
Artek for one.
The good thing is that it is possible calibrate every single range
so one calibrates what can calibrate at the moment.
The problem for me (and I think many others) is that probably I
will be able to calibrate it at an accuracy way below what it is capable.
