before anyone kills a board I need to make this clearer! 
with the serial port facing you JP3 is as follows 

2 4 6 8 10 12 14
1 3 5 7 9  11 13

pin3 (GPIO 0) is the one you want 

for ident purposes
pin1 is 3.3V 
pin 2 is 5V

pins 11,12,13 are signal GND which I used for PPS ground
