Unfortunately, in many US cities,  getting shot on New Years is an all too common occurance.  Knuckle dragging idiots celebrate with lots of booze, ammunition, and firearms.  At the stoke of midnight they unleash a hail of gunfire into the air...  and what goes up tends to come back down.  Inevitably somebody (more often than not, a child) will be in the exact place where something comes down.-------------In swedish leap-second translates to skott-sekund, and skott translates 
back to shot, so recalling the recent thread on fire-arms, don't get 
shot on the leap-second.
