On the other hand, a small cloud of BB pellets projected at 30,000 feet per
second, would turn even the hardiest GPS satellite into an inert piece of
space junk... Or, a small cloud of common nuts and bolts inserted into the reverse
orbit of one of the rings of the GPS constellation, and that ring of satellites
would soon cease to be useful.

The US has already shown that it can disable LEO satellites with missiles launched
from ordinary fighter planes.  MEO satellites ought not to be that big of a
challenge for a space capable nation.  Especially with the GPS satellites
broadcasting such a nice locating beacon.
