[volt-nuts] Solartron 7081 Test Leads

Jerry (and all),

The meter arrived today, a day earlier than I expected, and appears to be in
good condition. I plugged it in, turned it on, and seems OK so far but I
have a heavy week and it will likely be at least next week before I can get
a chance to explore it in detail.

However, the key works! Now, to 'pay it forward', if anyone needs a key to
try, I will see if I can get copies made (assuming the locksmith has the
appropriate blanks) and send a copy to anyone who wants it (assuming
shipping is less than or equal to a first class stamp in the USA). If
anyone overseas wants a copy, I will be happy to scan it and send a .PDF
file of the image so you can take it to your local locksmith. Jerry, I will
be happy to return your key if you need it after making copies.

Also, the connectors (and cable clamp) fit perfectly. I will be happy to
provide the details, including pictures, of the connectors and including
part numbers, sources, etc., if anything is needed beyond what has already
been posted on the group. It requires both the connector and cable clamp to
work properly. I have yet to make up any cables to test the meter with.

Thanks again for all the help and info from the group.

Joe

Jerry,

The key arrived today and thank you. I picked up the connectors yesterday
from my office. They look to be correct. Stan is waiting on my check to
arrive so meter will probably be here in a couple of weeks.

I'll let you know if I need the switch. Look forward to getting it up and
working.

Thanks again.

Joe

Sorry guys, I can never figure out how to use these lists (from the
digest).

Hi Joe,

The cal switch is by Microswitch. I bought a couple of them since I was in
the same situation as yourself (used box, no key). Bill suggested breaking
out the old switch as the mounting tabs are really hard to get to. Before
doing that I simply tried the new switch key in the existing cal switch.
Quickest fix I've every made. The same key also worked on a 7061 carcass.
Obviously the keys are not for security, and I would imagine a Cal Lab would
go berserk if they had to maintain hundreds of individual keys, one for each
instrument.

Send me your address and I'll put a key in the mail - if it doesn't work
I'll sell you the switch for a very reasonable price.

Jerry

Bill,

?

Thanks for all the info.

?

I ordered the connectors from Kensington Electronics using the part numbers

posed on an earlier email.? Very friendly folks but they want a 'company'

name.? I used my practice.

?

http://www.keiconn.com/

?

They have a $50 minimum order.? One connector and cable clamp meets that

requirement.

?

I would appreciate the part number of the switch you ordered.? Also, if you

could send me a picture of the connector end and the 'probe' end of the

cables you found, I would appreciate it.
