[volt-nuts] Solartron 7081, other meters, and some voltage standards

Greg,

I did the 'ACAL' on the 3457A and the reading is basically the same,
10.00005, which, assuming I have my math correct, the 'black face' 731B is
accurate, is about 5 ppm.

Joe,

...Correction to my previous statement regarding HP 3457A ACAL:

Being so used to the HP 3458A's ACAL functions, I think I incorrectly
attributed some 3458A ACAL features to the 3457A. Although the 3458A ACAL
re-generates new "temporary" digital correction constants for DCV gain,
apparently the 3457A ACAL does *not* do that.

According to the 3457A Service Manual, its ACAL routine adjusts DC offsets
of its AC amplifier, adjusts its AC attenuator flatness, and adjusts its
ohms precharge amplifier.

So, apparently the only time 3457A DCV gain is adjusted is during actual
"real" calibration against external voltage standards.

This being the case, I assume your 3457A's 10Vdc reading will *not* change
immediately after ACAL ALL.

Let us know if that's the case?

-Greg

I have not yet read the manual. Can you educate me about the 'ACAL ALL'?

I presume that the 'calibration' standards loaded at the last official
calibration are stored and can be 'reloaded' when needed. Correct?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

.........

After several hours warm-up, be sure to run "ACAL ALL".
